Best of wishes to everyone, I hope you all had a wonderful new year's eve.
In light of the year's end, I would like to look back on last year and take a look at what's to come in 2020, what you should expect, and when.
2019: A year of coming and going
2019 started with PDX having just released the beta version of the Ascension network, thanks to great efforts from Iluvelur. Sadly his journey ended shortly after the start of the year, leaving us on January 6th.
Following the closing of the Ascension server, I decided to pick development back up in April. I made a vague announcement about upcoming changes. This was right around the same time that we started working on the PDX Pixelmon server. The server launched in early May and is managed by KainDryson, who has eagerly kept it up-to-date ever since.
Fast forward to November, which is when I actually picked development of our new mini-game network back up, despite what I had announced earlier in the year. I had decided to focus on a limited set of features at first, and incrementally making the game-modes better as time goes on. This approach has allowed me to open up a test server in early December.
That's where we are right now. I have invited players to open beta tests for the past month, and Hunger Games is nearly at the stage where I want to have it for server launch. We even worked together with Youtooz to run a 24-hour Hunger Games event server, from which I have received valued feedback that was highly favorable with minor criticisms that will be addressed.
2020: What's to come
With the current rate at which the new network is progressing, it's hard to project and outlook of 2020. Since our last beta test, cosmetic improvements have been made to the server, which is a clear signal that we are approaching server launch.
You should expect the network to launch in Q1 of 2020, though the exact date has yet to be determined. We will launch with Hunger Games. creative plots, and a roadmap towards our first major network update. Our focus is for PDX to become a server that is created in the spirit of our old network (CCN), while embracing modern Minecraft and creating many new unique gaming experiences. This is the most ambitious project that we have embarked on since the birth of PDX, and I'm very excited to reveal the details to you in our upcoming launch announcement.
PDX will have quality maps and polished evolving games. And it's coming very soon.
Beta tests
The next beta test will be this Friday at 23:00 CET (22:00 UTC)
